Right now, a meter away from me…is a crush. Not major though. I used to just see him around. Last night was the first time we made small talk. Nice guy. And now…we’re alone. He was busy with Youtube and I’m with Twitter and blogs. But once in a while a thought would hit me…”sayang ang moment”. But then, I would shrug off that thought. What do I have to say to him? Hayz…if only I’m cool and interesting.

Too Awkward to Mingle
I went to a friend's party and saw a guy who caught my attention, and that happens to everyone, right? Pero dahil mahiyain at uptight ako, the natural thing for me to do was- wala. But I went home scolding myself, and because I was smitten, I did the first thing I felt the itch to do: Facebook. Medyo na-heartbroken ako sa nalaman ko. Konti lang. Kasi mas kinilabutan ako. Hehe. I may have not spoken a word to him, but I couldn't help looking. What if I caught his eye and lingered my look? What if I made small talk? These are the things I regret not doing, what if I'd been carefree and did them? Maybe some of our friends would notice, and they'd think "Oh no, not him! He just got married this month and they're expecting a child!" Yikes. That would have been embarassing! Sabi ko nga shy na lang ako forever eh. Haha.

Intoxicated with the Man of Substance
Habang ang karamihan ay nasa bakasyon at lakwatsa noong Thanksgiving long weekend, I was just at home watching lots of TV.
As I was switching channels, I caught "Grow Your Own Drugs" on the Lifestyle Network and my first thought was "nice try to be clever with titles". Tapos nakita ko yung host; pretty face, british accent, nice smile, nice arms and shoulders, looking good in jeans and shirt. The next thing I knew - I was actually watching the show.
So maybe it wasn't just his looks that caught my attention. Totoo naman eh, he was actually talking about something to me was interesting - the benefits we get from fruits, plants, and herbs. And people close to me know that I am starting to embrace this stuff. Pero to be quite honest, habang half of me was saying "ah talaga, ganun pala 'yun.", the other half naman was saying "shocks, this is the kind of guy for me! We can talk hours about this kind of stuff! We're perfect for each other!" Hahaha. Really, I never knew na merong plant geek na ganito ka-cute. Always before, when I think of botany, ang naiisip ko, either si Ernie Baron, or yung show na Ating Alamin. But this guy? This is the type you introduce to your 'rents. They will complain about their arthritis and he'll gladly boil them some leaves that will relieve the pain. Ohh..they will love him! And...I'm also thinking...I should stop right about now because I'm starting to sound scary! Haha.
So this are some of what Wikipedia has to say about him:
At the age of 27, Wong became the presenter of his own television series Grow Your Own Drugs. The award-winning BBC Two series demonstrates a number of natural remedies sourced from plants, and soon became the highest-rated gardening series on UK television. Wong has also authored the two best-selling books that tie-in with each series of the television show.
Dahil din sa google, nalaman kong there were rumors about him being gay kasi he's a famous garden designer in England na equivalent daw ng pagiging male hair-dresser or interior decorator sa amerika. What? Hindi ko alam kung matatawa ako o mapapa-iling. Pero hindi yan ang deal breaker, dahil hindi naman ako convinced na bading nga siya. Ang alam ko kasi depende yun sa sexual orientation hindi naman sa hilig. Pero nabasa ko rin kasi na he believes in evolution and Charles Darwin is his hero. So bago ko isipin kung maganda ang tunog ng Raquel Wong and how exciting magkaroon ng anak na british accent, I've to do some reality check, we have different core beliefs! (Kung makasalita naman ako parang there's a chance in a million years na magkafuture kami together. Eh alam ko naman na lagi siyang busy sa research and taping. Haha. Ayaw talagang tumigil.)
Gay or not, Darwin worshipper or not, it doesn't change the fact that I like what he does and I will still try to catch the show if I can.
Ngayon kung ang tanong eh, if interesting pa rin siya sa 'kin kung hindi siya good looking...uhmmm...kapag fanatic na din ako ni Ka Gerry Geronimo, dun ko masasagot 'yan.

Doctor, Doctor, I am...lovesick
Nag-absent ako some few weeks back because of my sore throat. So, I had to get checked kasi I needed a med cert. Lumabas ako ng bahay na umaambon at ang sama ng pakiramdam ko. It was one of those bad days at tamad na tamad ka talaga.
I was surprised when I met the doctor. He wasnt wearing the white gown and he doesn't even look like he's 30. Mukha lang siyang gaya ko, nag-absent at kelangan ng med cert. But I remember him being so nice, caring and very decent. And while I was paying at the cashier, the nurse handed him my med cert that he needed to sign, and I overheard them talking about how the nurse was suprised that he goes to VCF pala, and attends small groups...and I remember thinking..."and he's a Christian." And they carried on, for quite a while, talking about this church stuff, hawak pa din ng dok yung med cert ko and I was still waiting for him to sign it. I just waited.
I almost never blog about crushes and boys. Ngayon lang. I got his name and license #, but no, I don't have plans of stalking him. I'm just fascinated...how meeting him changed my mood from bad...to good. I'm just amazed. When I meet the guy for me, that's how I'd like it to feel. It feels right, like the heaven is smiling or something. =) Mushy.
Then one day naman on the same week, I went to Mega Mall. And while I was there, with all these people around me that should make me feel little and insignificant, I felt God's love. I should feel insecure but I felt peace. It's amazing. Na parang, sa gitna nilang lahat, I knew my place and I knew my purpose.
This thing...(cough, cough), love...is unbelievable.

Onscreen Crushes
The world is a better place if only they exist in real life.

1. Michael Scofield (Prison Break) - I don't need to explain why he's on my list. He may seem serious but in those times that Sarah and him were alone, he was funny and has witty remarks too huh. And Sarah Tancredi is like the luckiest girl in the world to be the mother of his child.
2. Aragorn (LOTR) - You want a knight in shining armor? Here it is, strong, smart, good, and romantic.
3. Chandler Bing (Friends) - If I'm Monica, magkakapasa-pasa si Chandler all over kakarurot ko. Comic and sarcastic. Very funny and very cute.
4. Edward Cullens (Twilight)- Mysterious and different. Polite, protective and a hopeless romantic. I could go on and on...
5. Wesley Gibson (Wanted)-The actor is the same guy in Narnia. How do you go from being a half human half animal character to being a hardcore very sexy killing machine? There was one scene wherein he came to other assasins' hideout to wipe then out, and he was killing everyone as if he doesnt care anymore if he gets killed in the process and miracurously he didnt. My jaw was hanging open while watching that and when it's done I said "Wow". I just thought that's very appealing.
6. Jamal Malik (Slumdog Millionaire) -the guy who would go through all these troubles for the love of his life.
7. Will Krudski (Young Americans)-The typical boy next door. He doesnt have to be a part of the varsity team or own a car or come from a prominent family. He just have to himself, simple, cute, very smart and poetic.

Slumdog, underdog and puppy crush

I know it's overrated, but I can't help liking Slumdog Millionaire. It is simple but genius.
As I was you-tubing the movie and the Jai-ho dance, I stumbled upon the videos of lead actor Dev Patel's interviews and guestings with those major shows and, I can't help myself, I was drooling over this amazing guy! He may have an Indian descent, but he's actually British having been born and raised in London. But I can't care less about his nationality, he is a sweet boy! Only 18 but very smart. He is also funny, humble, nice and a good-dresser!
When he was asked what it is about the movie that people love, he said "I guess it's the universal underdog story." (and world peace!)
Speaking of underdog, the same goes with Susan Boyle. This is an eye opener. A person has a gift inside, you can never judge a person just looking on the outside.
Funny how people fall for these amazing underdog, rags to riches, Cinderella stories, and yet everyone wants to be on top, hating and jealous of each other, when it's cool to be simple and humble.
Dear God, please let me meet someone like Dev Patel, only make him the same age as me because 18 is too young. But I like the same qualities, and the sexy British accent would be such a bonus too. Thank you.

Screwing up a Date with Destiny
Our youth service ended up almost 8:00pm last night so it too late for me to attend Gencon, but too early to go home. So I went to Tikling anyway and went to an internet shop. I left after an hour, but I still didnt feel like going home just yet. I haven't been to the new Starbucks in SM Taytay so thought I should go check out the place. It was jampacked, with no extra seats available. Besides, the people there were mostly by pairs or in groups, ako lang ang nag-iisa. And I didnt like the lighting. Ang liwanag. Kitang-kitang ako, dyahe. So I left and and went to Chowking in Tikling. I wanted a frap, or hot choco, but there's none so ended up with Nai-cha. After finishing my drink, I still didnt feel like going home. Sabi ko I'll walk my way to Mocha Blends. I like walking at night. Nakakarelax, ang dami mo maiisip. I used to do that when I used to stay in my aunt's house in Guadalupe back in college. From Boni, I would walk to Guadalupe Bridge, the Pasig river under me, the MRT above me and the bright and huge Guadalupe billboards before me. Then in my head a coldplay song would cue, it feels like a movie scene. Yeah, that's a scene in a script I write in my mind.
Back to Taytay, when I was almost in Mocha Blends, I saw a familiar back walking from the parking area going to the coffee shop. A crush. Okay, I don't have a bf and I don't sleep around, so I think it will not make me a bad person if I admit that I have some few crushes.
Ito yung tipo ng crush na, he doesn't know a thing or two about me, but if he sees me, he would know he's seen me because I go to their church, and we've been introduced to each other. I've also experienced speaking more than two words to him, and it was a dreadful experience. Pinagtawanan ako ng kasama ko, para daw akong iiyak sa kaba.
I actually had to stop by somewhere to decide if I really want to go in. Do I really want to? Kaya ko ba? I was asking myself, nakuha ko pang magpulbo. =) Then I thought, there's nothing to lose, and come to think of it, I've been to a few stops that night but something was telling me there was one place I still can go to. And we arrived there almost at the same time, how magical is that? (Okay, nasosobrahan ako sa kakapanood ng movies ni Julia Roberts).
I was able to manage to get my feet walking towards the shop. He was inside, I picked a seat outside. I was trying to act normal. I couldn't confirm if he saw me, but I was thinking he did. And that got me nervous. I took out my phone na lowbatt it has already died down. I pretended I read a text, and I stood up, look around and started walking away.
And that's how our date ended. I didnt even say goodbye to him, poor guy. =)
As I was walking back enjoying that, and laughing at my geekness, sa sarili ko, I imagined what I was wishing would happen. Actually, I think if it happens to anyone, pare-pareho lang kami ng naiisip. We will notice each other, he will think he has seen me before, he'd join me, and we would finish our drinks together.
I have to shrug my shoulder. Those kind of stuff happen in movies. Seeing him that night is good enough. Besides, I still do not know if he is the kind who would want to walk in Edsa beneath the bright lights.
